The Government of India announced that Air India would be combined with Indian Airlines in 2007. Air India has agreement codeshare with 13 other international airlines. Air India is projected to join Star Alliance, the world's leading airline alliance in 2010. Boeing 747-400 aircraft is used for abroad. As part of the merger process, National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) was recognized, into which both Air India (along with Air India Express) and Indian Airlines (along with Alliance Air) will be merged. After merging, the airline continued to be called as Air India. The headquarter of Air India will be continued in Mumbai.
